We live in Montana. To get through the winter, we have tools such as two snow blowers and several shovels. My husband just had to buy this (thing). He loves it and told three other neighbors about it, and then they all bought one too. We did buy an extra battery, which is quite expensive.

If you have an open-air deck or a large patio, this snow blower will be very useful. I've found that it works really well if you use it before the snow freezes underneath. We have a large deck with glass panels instead of vertical railing posts or horizontal cables, and there are problems when using this snow blower close to the railing. However, when I'm a few feet away from the railing, it can blow the snow high enough to clear the snow on the 4-foot-high railing. We're looking forward to the day when we can replace these glass panels. I definitely don't recommend using it on dirt and gravel surfaces because it doesn't have a height adjustment function.
